Whatcha Working on Wednesday

Wednesday is here already!
And tomorrow is Thanksgiving!
Fortunately I am not hosting this year.
My dining room and living room are still messy
as I try to organize my sewing room.
Today I am linking up with Leslie at My Country Home.
Thanks Leslie for hosting!!
Something I did in that direction was
go through one of my boxes of fabric scraps.
And I emptied it too!
I have a Little Quilts book that suggests
cutting fabric into strips of different sizes.
That is a good thing to do with scraps that I like.
Above I have 1" and 1 1/4" strips.
Then 1 1/2" and 1 3/4".

And 2" or larger.
I am storing them in those large 2.5 gallon ziplock bags.
I still need to get one of those skirt hangers
that holds about 5 skirts or so.
I will clip the bags onto that and hang it in my sewing closet
next to the dresser.
Here I am preparing to cut more strips.

I also cut some into bean bag size.
I make those for work.
If the pieces were big enough to be almost fat quarter size,
or an 1/8 or bigger,
then I left it whole.
I will later organize those by color after
I finish going through my other boxes of scrap fabrics.
What did I do with the empty box?
I used it to start emptying the bookcase that I need to remove
from the sewing room so I can paint the rest of the room.
I keep moving along on this project in baby steps.
I guess that is better than no progress at all.
~~~~~~~
I have also been doing cross stitch.
More progress on my Stitch Along project.
I made this card for a co-worker who is leaving
our facility for a different facility closer to where she will
be living.
A birthday card in the works.
And this one will be a wedding congrats card.
I am also still working on my
A Christmas Wish BOM.
The numbers as to how many I have done keep changing
in my side bar on the right.
Right now I am working a JOY block.
I do those during my lunch breaks at work.
~~~~~~~
Happy Wednesday!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Get R Done Friday!-The Closet

I am joining ClassyChassy over at
for Get R Done Friday!
Go on over an see who else has gotten
something done this week.
I have been working on this closet.
I finally finished painting it!
The rest of the room still needs to be painted.
You can see the white walls outside the closet there.
Then I took this highboy dresser that has been hanging out
in the living room and put it in the closet.
Then I started going through some of these
containers and moving some of the stuff
into the drawers.
This is how far I have gotten.
The two top drawers are still empty.
I have yarn stored in the bottom drawer.
Then crochet cotton in the next.
Third drawer up has embroidery hoops
and other things related to stitching.
I have unfinished projects in the third drawer from the top.
And I am still deciding what to use the two top ones for.
I also want to add two more shelves above the one that
is already there to use that empty space up there.
The long wall on the right will have shelves from
The Container Store.
I hope to start getting those soon.
Then on the long wall on the left
I will use for hooks and things
to hang flat things on the wall.
I look forward to the day when I finally have it all organized.
I sometimes wonder if I will ever get there.

Happy Friday!
What did you get done this week?

Whatcha Working on Wednesday

I am very late posting for
Whatcha Working on Wednesday.
But I was in a hurry to get to work this morning.
Better late than never!!
Leslie at My Country Home is our lovely host.
This is my progress picture for the
Stitch Along Blog.
Won't be long now and I will have the whole
pink area done.
It will be cool to move on to other colors.
I am also getting back to painting the closet in
the sewing room.
I had started this project during the
Procrastinator's Challenge
in October.
But our trip and the fumes from the paint
slowed me down.
This is the shade of yellow that I have used
in the sewing room.
But I have not painted the entire room yet.
To many things in the way.
Getting the closet done will help.
This is part of the master bedroom closet.
That is where I store a lot of craft items.
I want most of my craft things to
be in the sewing room.
Not in our bedroom.
This highboy dresser that is sitting in the living room
will go in the closet.
Then I get to decide what I am going to store in there.
This mess is in the living room still.
Stuff I took out of the closet in order to paint it!
I have a major organizing job ahead of me.
~~~~~~~
So, what are you working on?
And have a great day!
Get R Done Friday! More Sewing with Niece
Whoo Hoo!
It is Friday again!
Time for Get R Done with ClassyChassy
Feel free to join us with your Get R Done projects.
~~~~~~~
I have been sewing with my niece again this week.
I am teaching her to sew.
Here she is using my mother's featherweight.

I helped her sew the pockets on.

This one too!
It is a reversible apron.

While she was sewing, I worked on this block.
I finished it too!

Making progress!

Here she is sewing the two sides of the apron together.

Turning it right side out and pressing the edges.

Ta Da!! Side one.

And side two!
And yes that is a loom to the the left there.
And on the windowsill are two Amish
dolls I had painted for my mother one year.
This room was once my bedroom.
Now it is my mother's sewing room.
Finished this anniversary card this morning.

The inside.

Helmi has hopped into my bag again.
She likes traveling with us.

We are packed at ready to head out the door.
Will mail the card on the way.
Have a great week end folks!!

Whatch Working on Wednesday

Here it is Wednesday again.
Time for Whatcha Working on Wednesday
and I have a few things I have been busy with this week.
~~~~~
But first thank you to Leslie at My Country Home
for hosting this every week.
~~~~~~~
I had an update for the
Stitch Along Blog that I belong too.
This is where I am on my new project for the Stitch Along Blog.
There are 6 shades of pink I am using there and I am now finished with
the two shades that are dancing across the picture.
It is a good feeling when I know I don't need a color anymore.
Won't be long now and other colors will be showing up.
Last night my niece and I got together for more sewing.
She is still working on her apron.
Here she is sewing the neckstrap.
This is one side of the apron.

And this is the other side.
I helped her put the pockets on the apron.
We hope to finish it this evening.
We even have another project planned to
try after finishing the apron.
I am further along on this project.

And finally I am working on the fourth LOVE block.
I am also putting together the third quilt top,
but I don't have picture of that right now.
~~~~~~
So, what are you working on this week?
Whatcha Working on Wednesday-in Florida
It is time for Whatcha Working on Wednesday.
However, I don't think Leslie is going to do it today.
She has a lot going on at her place.
She writes about it on her post at
So I hope some of you will find me here anyway.
~~~~~
My Whatcha Working on Wednesday will be
stuff I was doing while in Florida.
The first portion of my trip was in Iowa visiting
my dear daughter.
Then daughter Sara went with us to
Florida to visit our son and his family.
That included hanging out and getting reacquainted with
our dear granddaughter.
We had gone to the pumpkin patch with her.
This is the pumpkin that was picked out.
Helmi has to get in the pictures and show it off.
Now she decided to pose on top of it.
You can see my stitching to the left there.
I had brought that along to work on.
It was decided to have Shaylee paint the pumpkin
rather than carve the pumpkin.
Here she is painting the pumpkin.

Helmi watches her paint.

Helmi is still watching and being careful
not to get in to the paint.
Shaylee is wearing a painting apron.

Then I decide to paint with Shaylee.

Here is the part Shaylee did!
She had fun doing it too.

And here is the part I did.
Whenever we talked about the pumpkin,
Shaylee would say
"Grandma and I did it!"
It was so cool to hear her call me "Grandma".
I must say I am not used to that yet.
This was our first time to see her since she
was 8 months old.
Helmi taking a look at how much stitching I am getting done here.
I finished a NOEL block and started the MAGIC block
while we were gone.
Now that we are back home,
I also have other projects in the works.

And this one too!
There are a bunch of other stuff I need to do to.
Like:
Catch up on ironing.
Get back to finishing painting the closet.
Finish other unfinished sewing projects.
And more decluttering which never seems to end.
But first I have to go work.
Perhaps I will have some energy to tackle a few things
after work.
Yesterday I was just too tired to do much.
Happy Wednesday!
