This is fun.

First up is the lastest on my cross stitch project

for the Stitch Along Blog I belong to.

The highlighting on the apples are really

making the apples come to life.

Remember my teaser?

Now you get to find out what I made and why.

I made somewhat of a mention of why on my main blog.

My donation to a Silent Auction at our church on Sunday.

This is why I was scrambling to get this project done.

Guesses?

Tablerunner, banner, placemat, and quilt.

So which is correct.

It is one of these choices.

Neabear, your project turned out great! Even though

you got owies in the process.

Napkins here!

I have to admit I am proud of my mitered corners.
Well....most of them.
Some did not quite turn out this perfect.

Voila a placemat.
Placemat is the correct answer.
A set of four along with four napkins to match.

See how the napkin is made out of one of the little
square fabrics.
I ended up not using the lighter blue and red squares I was making.
Too light for this combination.
I will save them for another project.
Maybe more placemats.
For me.
Since I did not get to keep this set I just made.
One of my Sister-in-laws( I have 6 sister-in-laws) won the bid
and now she wants more.
If I can find more of the same fabric perhaps.

I can see this pattern in Christmas fabrics too!
I did get lots of oohs and aahs over this project
once I got it to church.

Oh, you know how last minute I finished this set?
At the auction. I was still handstitching the binding down
on 2 of the placemats.
But I am glad to I got them done!!

Blue Monday-Can You Guess?

I am posting the blues of my project I am working on.

Actually it is finished!

But I am not going to tell you yet.

I know. Bad Me.

There have been some guesses.

Tablerunner, banner, placemats.

So what do you think?

Is it one of these or something else all together?

Well, it is obviously a patriotic theme.

No doubt about that part.

So what am I making with these fun fabrics?
I am matching my corners pretty well.
Not all are perfect, I'll admit that.

Hmmm...so what is it?
Guess you will have to come back and see.

Helmi has been helping me out a lot with this project.
Here she is handing me strips of the BLUE fabric as I need them.

Uh-oh! The hazards of sewing.

Getting poked.

I ended up with a double poke here that actually drew blood.

Ouch!!

Let me kiss it and make all better for you Neabear.

Thanks Helmi, I appreciate that.

Now I can continue with the piece that is on the sewing machine.

Watch out for that pin in the fabric Helmi!

Why?

That is one that gave me the owie.

Oh, ouch. Then I better move.

Another Teaser on My Project-Can You Guess?

Ok, so I am being a tease.

But it is so much fun at times.

However first I want to show you the card I just finished

last night.

I need it done to take to work today.

It is going in a care package for a co-worker

whose newborn is having serious health issues and

going into surgery.

Here is the back of the card.

That stamp is a Linnea flower.

Which was a gift to me from the same co-worker.

I think I need to find a stamp that says

"Handmade by".

I don't think I have one.

Anyway, I have done more on my current sewing project.

And more here.
Any ideas yet?

I am late getting this one up,

because this morning before work I did the Outdoor Wednesday/REDnesday

post on my main blog.

There is a link on my side bar to my main blog.

I ran out of time to get this one up.

Such is life I guess.

I continue to work away on the Christmas Wish BOM.

I took this project with me on our trip that I talk about

on my main blog.

I have posted for BLUE Monday, Three or More Tuesday

and Outdoor Wednesday so far about our trip.

Anyway, I think I finished another HOPE, PEACE and JOY

blocks. Yahoo!

Currently working on the THIRD .....MERRY block.

I am keeping track of what I have finished on my sidebar.

This card was still in progress when I posted it last week.

Here is the finished card!

I mailed it to my granddaughter whose birthday was last week.

I think she has gotten it by now, so I figure it is safe to post

a picture of it this week.

Remember this picture of Helmi with these patriotic fabrics?

Well, I have been busy with these too.

And Helmi has been helping me.

There is lots of RED in the next few pictures!
Helmi is helping me to get ready to make the first cut in this fabric.

See, there is the strip.
Now to cut the blue fabric.

The instructions called for cutting blocks individually.
I decided, Heck, there is a faster way to do that.
So I sewed the two strips together first.

Then I cut those into sections.
Helmi is holding all of them for me.

Then I sewed them together in chain fashion so I
didn't have to keep starting and stopping for each one.
There is my RED coffee cup to keep Helmi and me company
while I sew.

More progress on this project!
Uh-oh, there is that unfinished project in the background
from the Blogger Procrastinator's party.
If there is another party before I finish it,
I will have to participate again and get it finished.

Those patriotic fabrics turning into more blocks!
You can see the light red and blue blocks at the very top there.

And now I need to make cuts into this RED fabric to continue
with this project.
What is that you say?
Oh, have I not mentioned what I am making?
Sorry, not going to mention what it is yet.
Heehee.
I know, Helmi and I are terrible teasers.
Keeping you in suspense, wondering what the heck I am making!
Oh, by the way, I don't think Helmi knows what I am making
even though she is helping me.
That should help you feel better.

Also working on another cross stitch card.
This one has a small picture.
It is about done.
I will post the finished card next week.

for yet another card.
I am just having too much fun with all my projects.
I just wish I had more time in the day to do them all.
And I need to work Saturday too. Blech!

Whatcha Working on Wednesday/Rednesday

Time for Whatcha Working on Wednesday.

I am hoping to link up with Leslie at My Country Home

Last week she forgot it was Wednesday.

Easy to do. I sometimes forget what day it is.

I am also linking up with Sue at My Secret Garden.

I seem to usually have something RED in the things I am working on.

Shall we see if I do?

I promised to show the card I was making for my brother.

I gave it to him yesterday and he was impressed.

Yay for me!

So were my parents.

Here is another view.

I do have to say I am really pleased with how it turned out.

It is after all the first card I have ever made

using cross stitch as part of the card.

I used rub-ons to put this on the back.

And to put this on the inside.
It was so fun!

Here is the next card I am working on now.

Helmi is helping me show it off.
I am a little further along than in the previous picture.
Helmi, I noticed I made a boo-boo. Can you see it?

Hmmm...looks like you have a lot of space down at the bottom.
Is that the boo-boo?

Yes Helmi. After all the trouble I took to mark lines
on the aida cloth to help keep me in the right place,
I go and start the picture one section too high.

Ahhhh...I see. Is that going to be a problem?

I thought it was, but fortunately I still have enough space at the top
to make it work.
Whew!
I thought I was going to have to start over. I had already
done a lot when I first noticed that boo-boo.

Gee, Neabear, I am so glad you don't have to start over.
What is this thing in the next picture?
Have I seen this before?

Maybe you haven't Helmi, but I have posted a picture of it before.

It is called a light box. I use it to trace patterns.

So how does that work?

Well, Helmi, first I put the pattern I am going to trace on the box.

That is the next design in the Christmas Wish BOM I am working on.

What does BOM stand for?

Block of the Month.

Then I put the fabric on top of the pattern so

I can trace the pattern on it.

But I can't see it very well.

That is because we need to turn on the light.

Oh, now I see what you mean!

Right Helmi.

Now I need you to move so your foot doesn't get hot

against the light bulb.

See Helmi, here is the traced pattern.

Next I need to stitch it.

How cool that you can do that!

You do a good job tracing Neabear.

Now let's show everyone some RED stuff.

Now Helmi, don't get miffed again.
I went after work and you don't go to work with me.
It is too far to drive home and then to Joann's.
I would be wasting gas to do it that way.

Well, okay. I guess I understand.
Next time take me, and I'll wait in the car
while you work.

Figures! That is what I need. Sleep.
Anyway, this fabric I bought is for a project
I hope to get done as a contribution
to the Silent Auction at our church.

What are you going to make and what is the Silent Auction for?

You will have to wait and see.
I will post it when it is done.
And the Silent Auction is to raise money
for the youth in our church to
go to a special Lutheran Youth Gathering
in New Orleans.

I can't wait to see what you are going to make.
You have some pretty patriotic REDs here.
