Whatcha Working on Wednesday

It is that time again. I know I have not been posting as much lately on either of my blogs. I hope to get back to that more often now. But I have been busy with different things and work. The dark days make me tired early. But wanted to get this posted anyway.

Thank you to Leslie at My Country Home for being the ever gracious host for Whatcha Working on Wednesday. So let's see....what I have I been working on.....

My niece stayed with us last weekend to finish her project. Here it is all finished. She had broken her wrist after the last time we were together. So this time I had to help her finish sewing the pillows closed. Her name is Elyssa and her sister is Annika. Annika does not know yet what the project is. The girls share a room and these pillows will be on their beds. I think Elyssa did a great job sewing these together. Elyssa has already picked out the next project, but we will wait until she can cut the fabric out herself since it is her project.

B-Daddy and I finally got this shelf hung up. Well, B-Daddy did most of it. I just helped hold it in place. We have had this since the middle of November. I am glad to have it up. We hung it in the laundry room which is where we come and go. This shelf with the hooks comes in very handy as a place to hang our jacket. Before we were draping them whereever. We place our lunch boxes on top of the shelf. Works great. We got this shelf at IKEA. We had to hang it high enough so that a tall person would not hit their head.

I have a start on this piece I was preparing last week. Not much of a start, but a start. I did not post a picture on the stitchalong blog I am a part of. Hope to do one this weekend though. I have Saturday off and should be able to get to some projects that day. I hope so anyway.

So, what are you working on?

Whatcha Working on Wednesday

Here it is Wednesday again and time for
Whatcha Working on Wednesday.
Thank you to Leslie at
My Country Home for being the gracious host.
So what have I been up to lately?
Not posting much that is for sure.
But I do have some projects in the works.

I have written about teaching my niece to sew.
Well, she was over here New Year's weekend to
work on a new project.
Here she is pinning down the pattern pieces.

A close up of one of the fabrics.
It is a flannel.

And another of the other fabric she chose.

And of course Helmi had to get in on the act.
She likes to check out what us girls are up to.
And get in the middle of it all.
Can't blame her though because
she doesn't want to miss out on the fun.

Then my niece came to spend the weekend with us last weekend.
Now comes the sewing part.
Oh, and look, there is Helmi barging in again.

Meanwhile I did some work on these.
Both my current picture for the Stitch Along Blog
and started gridding for another project I am starting.

Helmi watches while my niece turns her
project right side out.

Some of her finished letters.
Had you figured out by now that she was making letters?

Then it was time to stuff them.
There are more pictures.
But I left my camera at my mother's last night when
we met there to work on it some more.

And this is the picture I posted on the Stitch Along Blog.
Moving slowly on it, but moving.
~~~~~~~
This was my first time to use the new updated blogger for uploading pictures and
composing your post. Worked great!
What have you been working on lately?
Get R Done Friday!
I am finally posting here again.
I have some Get R Done stuff to show you.
But first thank you to ClassyChassy for hosting
Get R Done.
You can find her at Expressly Corgi.
This week is the last episode of Get R Done.
~~~~~~~~

For gift bags just the right size for gift cards,

I decided to make the Itty Bitty Poochie Bags I found

at Mode Bake Shop.

Aren't they cute?

I made four of them for my nephew and nieces.

I stuck a gift card and some candy in each one.

They were a big hit.

I might make some more to have the ready for next year.

I have enough materials to make a few more.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am still working on my sewing room closet.
We have gotten more done on it!
I gave my husband a new cordless power drill for Christmas.
It worked great for putting up the top track for the shelves.
The I attached the first two rows of shelves.
That is all we have gotten so far.
Then I went through two boxes of books that were originally
stored on the floor of this closet.
I filled the two shelves with the books I wanted to keep.
Found four duplicates so of course I put those in the donation bag for the library.
I went through the rest of the books and decided to keep 17 others.
The remaining filled a paper bag to also be donated to the library.
The two boxes got cut down and put out in the recycle can.
So that was a little bit of decluttering for me.
Woo hoo!!
I have gift cards that will buy me three more rows of shelves and the needed
supplies to support them.
I will fill one more with books.
Then that should bring the height of the shelves down to a more comfortable height for me
to start storing my sewing and craft supplies on them.
My painful shoulders keep me from reaching up for things easily.
~~~~~~

So, what have you gotten done?
