Whatcha Working on Wednesday-Lots going on!

Sometimes the week just goes by too fast for me.

Here we are at Wednesday again.

That means it is time for

Whatcha Working on Wednesday!

I am participating in the

Procastinator's Party.

I have done the first couple of steps

I had listed for me to do.

I took out the rest of the stuff that was still sitting on the shelf.

I took out the long shelf that was along the wall on the right.

I had to ask B-Daddy to help me get the brackets down.

Then I spackled the holes from the brackets

and I cleaned the walls.

The old sheets are on the floor ready for me to paint

the primer on the walls.

I hope to start on that tonight after work.

Oh, and that stool, that is not a reproduction stool.

That is an old one. Used to be my godmother's.

We use it a lot.

Hooray!! I have finished my apple bowl cross stitch!!

Some of you may have seen it on my main blog.

I posted it there too.

It took me from January to October to finish it.

And I used a total of 34 colors in it.

Whew!

You can barely see it,

but this is the start to my new cross-stitch project

for the Stitch Along Blog.

I had bought myself new jeans.

I always get the kind with elastic waist.

I can't stand to wear the other kind.

But after wearing them 3 times with one washing,

I discovered the elastic was giving up already.

I thought, oh, just rip out some of the two bottom

rows and pull out the elastic and insert the new.

Ha!

Turns out the elastic is sewn down as well.

Argh!!

This is turning into a bigger fix it job than I thought!

I am tackling it in bits and pieces hoping

to have it done before our trip.

I want to wear them on our travel days.

As of today,

only 9 days until we go.

I have mentioned fabric shopping with my niece

to get fabric so that I can teach her to sew.

Well, we have been tackling that project too.

First I showed her the ins and outs of reading the pattern

pieces and cutting out the fabric.

Oh, and understanding the layout too!

Here she is pinning the piece for the apron.

After cutting that out, then it was pinning on pieces for

the contrast fabric.
Then it was the brown fabric.
The ties and the bands are made from this fabric.
She did all the cutting.

Then last night we started the sewing process.

First I had to show her how to wind a bobbin and thread
the machine.
We are using my mother's machine here.
This is the machine I learned to sew on, and
I made my wedding dress using this machine.
My old bedroom is now the sewing room.
Here she is doing some pinning.
But first I had her practice sewing on scrap fabric first.

Sewing her first seam on the apron!
I put tape there to help maintain the same seam allowance.

She also learns how to iron her seams.

This is one of the pockets.

She practiced sewing around a curve, but was having a hard

time with that.

So I do the curves for her.

Here I am sewing the curves for her and

she leans in to watch.

I used to do that with my daughter.

She did the straight seams

and I did the curvy seams until she learned how to do that.

We are not finished with this project yet,

but my niece is already looking forward to the

next project we make together.

She is 13 and very eager to sew like me.

makes me proud.

That bandage I have on my right hand?

I burned myself on the light bulb of

the sewing machine.

Not that one, but the one that was my godmother's.

I was trying to see if I could get it to work and in the

process bumped my hand up against the hot light bulb.

It blistered up and at work, the gloves I have to use

pulled away the blister exposing the wound

and it stun too.

So I have to keep it covered now until it heals.

We had lots of rain yesterday.

The first for the season.

Then it is supposed to warm up again.

Into the 80's.

Crazy weather!!

Get R Done Friday - Card and Stuff

Participating in Get R Done Friday is still new for me.

I rather like the idea of posting the in-progress things

on Whatcha Working on Wednesday

and the things I finished on Get R Done Friday.

And I do have some finished things to show you today!

Wednesday I showed this not yet finished card.

And here it is finished.
The original has it in blues.
Blue vase and shades of blue flowers.
But the co-worker I made this for likes pink,
so I changed it. Also I used seed beads in the flower centers.
Unfortunately she has been out sick,
so she has not received it yet.
Perhaps today.
I finished the NOEL block I was working on.
I have started working on the next one.

And this card went from this---

to this!

It was for the son of another co-worker.

I never finished a gift I had intended to give her at her shower.

And now he is too big for it.

So I made another one in a larger size

and included the card above with it.

And this turned into---

This!

The co-worker was thrilled to get this cute boy outfit

and the birthday card for her son.

She said that it is still big for him.

I am glad, that means he can wear it longer and grow

into it more.

And finally!!

I have finished this apple bowl cross-stitch!!!

Picked it up in January to start working on it from where I left off

and finished it in October.

It is a great feeling to have this one all done.

Except for getting it framed.

Not sure how I am going to do that part yet.

Whatcha Working on Wednesday with Helmi

Time for Whatcha Working on Wednesday!

Come and take a peek at what all I have been

working on this past week here and there.

Helmi has been helping me too!

Earlier I shared some fabrics I bought.

I always prewash them before I do anything with them.

Helmi had to come poke her head in and see what

I was up too.

Uh, Helmi, those fabrics are wet. You are sitting on wet fabric.

Ok, Neabear. I'll help you put them in the dryer.

Helmi, I think it is more like I better help you.

You might get lost in them and then I will accidently

dry you right along with the fabrics.

Helmi decides to check out what is on the sewing machine.

A card I am working on.

More progress on that card.

Moving along on the second NOEL block.

Yet another card I am working on.

Another card that is almost finished.

Playing around with the papers here.

Got the zipper put in on this.

Started sewing on this.

I know the plaid does not match up.

I decided I am not going to stress out about it

this time.

Also got started on this one too.

Helmi had been helping me iron the fabrics

I prewashed.

Whew!

A lot of different things I have going on here.

If I didn't have to go to work, I would be getting a lot more done.

It is because of all these projects that I have

gotten behind in browsing blogs.

P.S. What are you working on?

Procrastinator's Party and Three or More Tuesday

Well, the main thing this week is that I am joining in with

the Procrastinator's Party with The Inspired Room.

It lasts over 3 Tuesdays, starting with today (Oct 6).

And it is going to take me 3 or more steps to complete this task.

I had joined in last May with the Procrastinator's Party.

I attempted to recover a wingback chair.

I got it started and it still sits unfinished in the living room.

I am not going to go back to that project just yet,

because the living room is in chaos as it has

become a holding area while I try to complete

this next project.

No garage, makes it hard to hide messes!

I have been wanting to redo this closet in the sewing room.

I want it to be much more efficient for storing

sewing and craft related items

in a way so that I can find what I need

when I need it.

First are some before pictures,

before I started cleaning it out.

Lots of mess in there.

Couldn't even walk in there.

I was getting very tired of that.

Some of the mess has been cleared out by the time

I took this picture above.
And this is where I am at right now.
Step one: I need to take down that shelf on the right.
Step two: I need to clean in there and prep the walls.
Step three: I need to paint with primer.
Step four: I need to paint with my color of choice,
a Sunset yellow.
The color we are already using in the rest of the room.
So.......
On to the Procratinator's Party!
I am not working the next two Saturday's.
I should be able to get at least as far as getting all the painting done.
I hope I can get farther!

Blue Monday in the Sewing Room

Here it is Blue Monday again.

This time I am sewing with the BLUES.
I have both of my sewing machines set up on the dining room
table at the moment while we try to get to doing the closet
redo.
I discovered it was a pain to have only one pair of thread clip type of
scissors.
So the other day I bought 2 more.
And look!
They are BLUE.
Well, one of them is pictured here.
I put the other one by my serger.
Now I can quit running around looking for
the thread clips, or snips
or whatever they are called.
As long as they do the job,
I don't care what they are called.

I have also been sewing with fabrics that have BLUE.

I am using a BLUE zipper in this one!

And I am using this BLUE plaid fleece fabric

to make something off this pattern

which also has a lot of BLUE on it.

So what exactly am I making?

This is my sneaky way of getting you come back

Get R Done Friday!

This is new meme I am participating in.

New to me anyway.

Today is my first time on this blog, but

I did my second week of participating

on my main blog.

It will depend on the project

In my Whatcha Working on Wednesday post,

I had several things in the works.

Now I have something DONE!

This is the finished look of the card I was working on.

I had to have it finished by yesterday.

And I finished it before work and took it to work

for the lucky gal whose 40th

birthday we were celebrating.

She loved it and so did our rehab team.

I was going to put this wording on the front,

but then I changed my mind and put it here.

All the staff signed the card.

The whole inside of the card was covered with

birthday greetings.

The back.

Interestingly everyone is amazed at how I make the cards.

They can't figure out how I do it.

I guess I am the only one on the team that does any kind

of craft/sewing/stitching things.

Something else I have been doing.....

shortening pants.

One pair done,

three to go.

Plus a top to alter.

Better get to it I guess.

I also need to make another birthday card

and a baby shower card

and and and.......
