Whatcha Working on Wednesday

It is that time again. I know I have not been posting as much lately on either of my blogs. I hope to get back to that more often now. But I have been busy with different things and work. The dark days make me tired early. But wanted to get this posted anyway.

Thank you to Leslie at My Country Home for being the ever gracious host for Whatcha Working on Wednesday. So let's see....what I have I been working on.....

My niece stayed with us last weekend to finish her project. Here it is all finished. She had broken her wrist after the last time we were together. So this time I had to help her finish sewing the pillows closed. Her name is Elyssa and her sister is Annika. Annika does not know yet what the project is. The girls share a room and these pillows will be on their beds. I think Elyssa did a great job sewing these together. Elyssa has already picked out the next project, but we will wait until she can cut the fabric out herself since it is her project.

B-Daddy and I finally got this shelf hung up. Well, B-Daddy did most of it. I just helped hold it in place. We have had this since the middle of November. I am glad to have it up. We hung it in the laundry room which is where we come and go. This shelf with the hooks comes in very handy as a place to hang our jacket. Before we were draping them whereever. We place our lunch boxes on top of the shelf. Works great. We got this shelf at IKEA. We had to hang it high enough so that a tall person would not hit their head.

I have a start on this piece I was preparing last week. Not much of a start, but a start. I did not post a picture on the stitchalong blog I am a part of. Hope to do one this weekend though. I have Saturday off and should be able to get to some projects that day. I hope so anyway.

So, what are you working on?

Whatcha Working on Wednesday

Here it is Wednesday again and time for
Whatcha Working on Wednesday.
Thank you to Leslie at
My Country Home for being the gracious host.
So what have I been up to lately?
Not posting much that is for sure.
But I do have some projects in the works.

I have written about teaching my niece to sew.
Well, she was over here New Year's weekend to
work on a new project.
Here she is pinning down the pattern pieces.

A close up of one of the fabrics.
It is a flannel.

And another of the other fabric she chose.

And of course Helmi had to get in on the act.
She likes to check out what us girls are up to.
And get in the middle of it all.
Can't blame her though because
she doesn't want to miss out on the fun.

Then my niece came to spend the weekend with us last weekend.
Now comes the sewing part.
Oh, and look, there is Helmi barging in again.

Meanwhile I did some work on these.
Both my current picture for the Stitch Along Blog
and started gridding for another project I am starting.

Helmi watches while my niece turns her
project right side out.

Some of her finished letters.
Had you figured out by now that she was making letters?

Then it was time to stuff them.
There are more pictures.
But I left my camera at my mother's last night when
we met there to work on it some more.

And this is the picture I posted on the Stitch Along Blog.
Moving slowly on it, but moving.

This was my first time to use the new updated blogger for uploading pictures and
composing your post. Worked great!

Get R Done Friday!

I am finally posting here again.

I have some Get R Done stuff to show you.

But first thank you to ClassyChassy for hosting

Get R Done.

You can find her at Expressly Corgi.

This week is the last episode of Get R Done.

~~~~~~~~
For gift bags just the right size for gift cards,
I decided to make the Itty Bitty Poochie Bags I found
at Mode Bake Shop.
Aren't they cute?
I made four of them for my nephew and nieces.
I stuck a gift card and some candy in each one.
They were a big hit.
I might make some more to have the ready for next year.
I have enough materials to make a few more.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am still working on my sewing room closet.

We have gotten more done on it!

I gave my husband a new cordless power drill for Christmas.

It worked great for putting up the top track for the shelves.

The I attached the first two rows of shelves.

That is all we have gotten so far.

Then I went through two boxes of books that were originally

stored on the floor of this closet.

I filled the two shelves with the books I wanted to keep.

Found four duplicates so of course I put those in the donation bag for the library.

I went through the rest of the books and decided to keep 17 others.

The remaining filled a paper bag to also be donated to the library.

The two boxes got cut down and put out in the recycle can.

So that was a little bit of decluttering for me.

Woo hoo!!

I have gift cards that will buy me three more rows of shelves and the needed

supplies to support them.

I will fill one more with books.

Then that should bring the height of the shelves down to a more comfortable height for me

to start storing my sewing and craft supplies on them.

My painful shoulders keep me from reaching up for things easily.

So, what have you gotten done?

Whatcha Working on Wednesday

I missed it last week, but I am back today with
Whatcha Working on Wednesday.
Leslie at My Country Home is our wonderful host.
Thank you Leslie for hosting.
I am still working on A Christmas Wish BOM.
This is the fourth one.
I have decided I am not going to get them done for this year.
So I will just keep working along on them in 2010 and
finish them for next year.
Currently I am stitching on the HOPE block.
It is almost finished.
I sometimes wonder where others do their stitching.
I do my cross stitching at this table.
I have a good light to shine on my work and
there is more light coming from above too.
I don't usually carry my cross stitch around with me.
But I do carry my other stitching like the BOM
in the first picture.
I frequently work on those in the car, during lunch at work,
and worked on it during a concert the other day.
I did have this sewing machine in the living room,
but it is now too cold to sew in there.
The sewing room is in transformation right now.
So I moved it to the other side of the table
from where I cross stitch.
Works quite well for right now.
My birthday present was getting the materials needed
to start putting up the shelves in the sewing room closet.
The ones on the left there will hang on the right side
of the closet.
Those two boards go above the shelf I already have.
I need to spray paint them white,
but it has been too cold and damp to do that these days.
Waiting for a warmer dry day.
We also got that step stool there.
It will be stored next to the dresser when not in use.
I hope to start putting them up this weekend if not before.
I have received a gift card from The Container Store
for my birthday also.
That means getting more shelves. Yippee!
I know getting shelves is not a glamorous gift,
but that is what I wanted. :-)
Here is a peek at something I am working on.
Some of you may be able to figure out what it is.
Here is where I am on my current cross stitch project.
I did some more green. And you can barely see some
white I did at the top of the pink hearts which are
also hard to see.
~~~~~~
So what have you been working on lately?
Happy Wednesday!
Get R Done Friday!
I can't believe it is Friday already!
The week has flown by.
I have spent most of it being very tired.
But I do have some finishes to share.
First I want to thank
ClassyChassy at Expressly Corgi
for hosting for us.
I finished this card I had been working on last week.
Then I also finished this card this week.
It was for a couple at work who had gotten married
the week before Thanksgiving.
They also brought their baby.
It was my first time to see her.
She was wearing the dress I made for her too!
It is always cool to see the babies wearing the outfits I made
for them.
Several of the co-workers have brought their babies to work
in the outfits I made.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That bookcase I am working on clearing out.
Not done yet, but I am getting there.
Takes time to figure out where to put everything.
I got that skirt hanger to hang my bags of strips.

They are hanging in the closet next to the dresser where
I can find them.
So what have you gotten done?
~~~~~~
Happy Friday!
Whatcha Working on Wednesday
Today is Whatcha Working on Wednesday.
Leslie's is our wonderful host.
You can find her at My Country Home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I continue to work on my sewing room
to get it organized and to get it ready for more painting.
See this messy bookcase.
Well, it is a lot emptier now.
I am slowly getting things out of there
and either finding other places for it or packing in
boxes for right now.
My brother has cut me a couple of shelves to
add to the closet.
I want to paint them white before I put them up.
I hope to get that done soon.
This is my latest update on my project
for the stitch along blog.
I now have some green in there with the pink.
On my main blog I posted about going to BevMo.
We also went to JoAnn's Fabrics.
The DMC floss was on sale so I got 30
more skeins.
30 was the limit.
That left me with a mess to sort and to wind on to
bobbins. I have finished that project already!
I showed a start on my last post on this card I am making.
Here is where I am.

Oh wait! I did more!
Here is another picture!
I have got to finish this card tonight.
Need to take it to work tomorrow,
along with something to contribute to the potluck.
A therapist and a nurse got married.
So we are celebrating their union.
Can you tell those are going to be two
blue lovebirds on the card?
What are you working on?
